Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some quick answers to your questions
What is this Conference about?
The SEAMEO INNOTECH International Conference, held every two years, serves as a platform for focused conversations on key issues on education and development. On its 15th offering, the conference will use the power of stories to explore inclusive quality education from the perspective of learners who are traditionally unseen, unheard, and underserved.
Concentrating on the critical question, “How do we create a thriving learning community for all?” the SEAMEO INNOTECH 15th IC aims to provide an opportunity for the conference participants to rethink and reflect on the current and good practices in inclusive quality education and how lessons learned from the conference can be applied in their individual contexts and realities.
What will happen in the Conference?
Not your ordinary conference with multiple speakers, panels and presentations, the 15th IC will mainly consist of learning conversations facilitated using a modified Open Space Technology (OST). This will engage participants to discuss education-related issues as well as exchange and share new ideas and best practices in the implementation of inclusive teaching and learning strategies in the region. A selection of compelling stories addressing the conference themes (Inclusive Leadership, Inclusive Learning Culture, and Inclusive Policies and Practices) will help frame the conference deliberations supported by synthesis sessions from "Conversation Weavers". Visit the Highlights page and Schedule page of the website for a glimpse of what will happen!
What is Open Space Technology (OST)?
Open Space Technology is one way to enable all kinds of people in any kind of organization, to create inspired meetings and events (OpenSpaceWorld.org). This allows the participants to operate with a high degree of engagement, creativity, and passion by creating their own agenda and self-managing the program.

I am not from the Philippines; do I need to apply for a visa to enter the Philippines?
Nationals from ASEAN-member states and 148 other countries can enter the Philippines without a visa for a stay not exceeding 30 days*, “provided they hold valid tickets for their return journey to port of origin or next port of destination and their passports valid for a period of at least six months beyond contemplated period of stay.” (dfa.gov.ph)
Participants with passports from countries on this list are advised to apply for a temporary visitor’s visa at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in their respective country of origin or legal residence.
I will be coming from outside the Philippines; which airport is nearest to the conference venue?
The main international gateway for travelers to the Philippines, Metro Manila in particular, is the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City. The most convenient way to reach the conference venue from NAIA is by taxi which would take around an hour and a half of travel time and costs between PHP 500 to PHP 800.
A viable alternative entry point to Metro Manila is Clark International Airport in Pampanga - a province north of the capital. It is about 2 hours away from SEAMEO INNOTECH. For transportation services from Clark to Metro Manila, participants may visit: crk.clarkairport.com.
Where can I stay for the duration of the conference?
While there are over a hundred hotels around the Metro, we have identified six accommodation options based on their affordability, quality of service, and distance from the conference venue. When booking for a room in these hotels, participants are advised to mention that they will be attending the International Conference to avail of the special rate given to participants.
What clothes should I wear for the conference?
We recommend that you wear smart casual with breathable fabric for the duration of the conference. The Philippines is a tropical country with just two seasons, and it could be hot and humid during the month of March. It would also be wise to carry an umbrella in case it rains.
What is the currency used in the country? Where can I change my money to the local currency?
Our local currency is Philippine Peso. Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks, hotels, authorized money changing shops, and large department stores.
Who should I contact if I have further inquiries?
